State Farm Louisiana car insurance total loss class action settlement

State Farm agreed to a class action settlement to resolve claims it failed to pay Louisiana policyholders the full value of their total loss claims.

The State Farm settlement benefits Louisiana policyholders and insureds of an applicable State Farm entity who submitted a covered first-party private passenger auto physical damage claim between May 17, 2022, and May 21, 2026, that resulted in a total loss claim payment that did not include purchasing fees.

According to the car insurance class action lawsuit, State Farm failed to pay Louisiana policyholders the full value of their total loss claims by not including purchasing fees in these payments. These purchasing fees include sales tax, title fees, notary fees, registration and license plate transfer fees and tag fees.

State Farm is an insurance company that offers a variety of insurance products, including auto insurance.

State Farm has not admitted any wrongdoing but agreed to pay an undisclosed sum to resolve the car insurance class action lawsuit.

Under the terms of the State Farm settlement, class members can receive a payment of $28.39 for each vehicle they owned that resulted in a total loss claim payment from May 17, 2022, to May 21, 2026. Class members who owned multiple vehicles that resulted in total loss claim payments will receive multiple payments.

The deadline for exclusion and objection is Aug. 18, 2026.

The final approval hearing for the State Farm class action settlement is scheduled for Sept. 17, 2026.

To receive class action settlement benefits, class members must submit a valid claim form by Oct. 19, 2026.
