Request deletion of your data
You can ask us to delete the personal information you gave SettleScout at any time, for any reason. You don't need an account, and you don't have to explain why.
How to request deletion
Email us from any address and include the email address you entered on your claim form. That is the only way we can find your records — claims are stored against a random identifier generated on your device, which is never shown to you and which we cannot reverse-look-up from a name alone.
Email a deletion requestOr write to support@settlescout.app with the subject line “Data deletion request”.
We acknowledge every request within 7 days and complete the deletion within 30 days. If we cannot identify your records from the information you give us, we will write back and tell you what else we need rather than closing the request silently.
What gets deleted
Everything you typed on a claim form: full name, email address, phone number, mailing address, city, state, ZIP code, and any proof-of-purchase description — along with the record of which settlements you filed for and their status.
The notification token for your device, the random device identifier it is stored against, your selected country, your brand selections, and your subscription flag.
Product analytics tied to your device — screens opened, settlements viewed, subscription events — wherever we can link them to the records above.
Deletion is permanent. Your claim history disappears from the app, and we can no longer notify you when a settlement you filed for starts paying out.
What we cannot delete
If you subscribed, the App Store or Google Play holds the transaction. We cannot delete their records, and we have to keep our own billing history for tax and accounting purposes. To manage or cancel a subscription, use your Apple or Google account settings.
When you file a claim, you enter your details on the official court-appointed administrator's own website. SettleScout never transmits your claim to them, so we cannot withdraw or delete it. Contact that administrator directly.
We keep a note that a deletion request was made and completed, so we can show we honoured it. It contains no claim data.
If you never filed a claim
Then we hold nothing that identifies you. Your country, age range, gender and brand selections are stored only on your phone — they are never sent to our servers, and deleting the app removes them. If you turned on notifications, we hold a notification token tied to a random device identifier; uninstalling the app invalidates it and we stop sending to it. You are still welcome to email us and we will remove that registration.
If you did file a claim through the app, removing the app does not erase the name, email, phone number and address stored on our servers. Only a deletion request does that.
