Jeep steering wheel, front suspension recall class action settlement

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) agreed to a class action lawsuit settlement to resolve claims that the steering wheel and front suspension on its Jeep Wrangler and Gladiator vehicles were defective and later became subject to a recall due to safety concerns.

The settlement benefits owners and lessees of model-year 2018 to 2020 Jeep Wrangler vehicles or 2020 Jeep Gladiator vehicles.

FCA issued a recall on certain Jeep Wrangler and Jeep Gladiator vehicles due to concerns that the vehicles’ steering wheel and front suspension are defective, resulting in a so-called “death wobble” — shaking on bumpy roads at highway speeds. A class action lawsuit against FCA claims consumers were financially injured by these defects and forced to foot the bills for repairs.

FCA is a vehicle brand owned by Stellantis. FCA owns several brands, including Jeep.

FCA hasn’t admitted any wrongdoing but agreed to pay an undisclosed sum to resolve the recall class action lawsuit.

Under the terms of the Jeep class action lawsuit settlement, class members can receive a warranty extension of up to eight years or 90,000 miles, whichever comes first. This extended warranty will cover repairs associated with a failed front suspension steering damper.

Class members can also receive reimbursement if they had to pay out of pocket to have their front suspension steering damper replaced in the past.

The deadline for exclusion and objection was March 10, 2023.

The final approval hearing for the Jeep Wrangler and Gladiator class action lawsuit settlement is scheduled for April 19, 2023.

In order to receive settlement benefits, class members must submit a valid claim form.
