$17.5M 700Credit data breach class action settlement

700Credit agreed to a $17.5 million class action settlement to resolve claims that a 2025 data breach compromised sensitive consumer information.

The 700Credit settlement benefits individuals who received a data breach notice from 700Credit informing them that their private information may have been compromised in a data breach on Oct. 25, 2025.

According to the class action lawsuit, 700Credit failed to implement reasonable cybersecurity measures, which could have protected consumer information from the 2025 data breach. As a result, hackers allegedly gained access to sensitive consumer information, such as Social Security numbers, birth dates and more.

700Credit is a credit reporting agency that provides credit reports, scores and other services to financial institutions.

700Credit has not admitted any wrongdoing but agreed to a $17.5 million settlement to resolve the data breach class action lawsuit.

Under the terms of the 700Credit settlement, class members can receive either a cash payment or a credit monitoring benefit.

Class members who experienced documented losses related to the data breach, such as fraud or identity theft, can receive up to $2,500 in reimbursement. Class members who did not experience documented losses can receive a smaller cash payment of around $50.

All class members, regardless of whether they experienced losses, can receive two years of free credit monitoring services. Class members can find their activation codes on their class action settlement notices.

The deadline for exclusion and objection is Sept. 8, 2026.

The final approval hearing for the 700Credit class action settlement is scheduled for Oct. 7, 2026.

To receive settlement benefits, class members must submit a valid claim form by Sept. 22, 2026.
