Something went wrong while submitting the form.Danielle TothEditorPublishedSeptember 16, 2026 3:19 PMUpdatedSeptember 16, 2026Join the DiscussionIndividuals who lived, worked, owned, rented property or were present in the western portion of St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands, between Feb. 3, 2021 and May 26, 2021, may be eligible to claim a cash payment from class action settlements.Several companies, including Limetree Bay Holdings LLC, ArcLight Capital Partners LLC, Freepoint Commodities LLC, Pinnacle Services LLC, Universal Plant Services (VI) LLC, Excel Construction and Maintenance VI Inc., Versa Integrity Group Inc., Elite Turnaround Specialists Ltd., EIG Global Energy Partners LLC, Limetree Bay Ventures LLC and Limetree Bay Energy LLC agreed to pay $59,795,000 to settle class action lawsuits. The lawsuits alleged that, during early 2021, the failed restart of the Limetree Bay Refinery on St. Croix led to the emission and release of hazardous and toxic chemicals, substances, gases and odors. These incidents, which occurred on Feb. 4, April 23, May 5 and May 12, 2021, allegedly caused property damage, nuisance, trespass, economic losses, physical and emotional health issues, and unreimbursed out-of-pocket expenses for people in the affected area. Who can file a claim?To be eligible for compensation from the settlements, a person or entity must meet at least one of the following criteria:They owned or rented property (real and/or personal) in the affected geographic area on or after Feb. 3, 2021.
