About This Settlement
Equinox has agreed to a $685,000 class action settlement to resolve claims that a 2024 data breach compromised consumer information.
The Equinox settlement benefits individuals who received a data breach notice from Equinox informing them that their information may have been compromised in a data breach on April 29, 2024.
The data breach class action lawsuit resolved by this settlement alleged Equinox failed to protect consumer information from a 2024 data breach. The Equinox data breach reportedly compromised sensitive information, such as Social Security numbers, driver’s license numbers, health insurance data and more.
Equinox is a New York-based non-profit social services organization that provides domestic violence services, mental health counseling, youth programs and substance abuse treatment.
Equinox has not admitted any wrongdoing but agreed to pay $685,000 to resolve the data breach class action lawsuit.
Under the terms of the Equinox settlement, class members can receive up to $5,000 for documented data breach losses, such as bank fees, communication charges, travel expenses and more. Class members can also receive a $100 payment for undocumented losses.
All class members can receive three years of free credit monitoring services from the class action settlement. These services include one-bureau credit monitoring, dark web monitoring, $1 million in identity theft insurance and fully managed identity recovery services.
Equinox also agreed to implement business practice changes to better protect consumer information and secure its systems.
The deadline for exclusion and objection is Sept. 23, 2026.
The final approval hearing for the Equinox data breach class action settlement is scheduled for Nov. 12, 2026.
