About This Settlement
Disney agreed to pay $50 million as part of a partial class action settlement to resolve claims that it violated federal antitrust laws by raising the price of live TV subscriptions, such as YouTube TV and DirecTV Stream.
The Disney settlement benefits individuals who purchased a YouTube TV subscription or a DirecTV streaming live pay TV subscription (DirecTV Stream, DirecTV Now and AT&T TV Now) between April 1, 2019, and March 31, 2026.
According to the antitrust class action lawsuit, Disney violated federal antitrust laws by working with other companies to raise the price of live TV subscriptions. As a result, consumers allegedly paid higher prices for services such as YouTube TV and DirecTV Stream.
Disney is a media company that owns ESPN, ABC, Hulu, Disney+ and other networks.
Disney has not admitted any wrongdoing but agreed to a $50 million class action settlement to resolve the antitrust lawsuit.
Under the terms of the Disney settlement, class members can receive a cash payment based on the length of their subscription. Exact payment amounts will vary depending on the number of claims filed with the settlement. No payment estimates are available at this time.
In addition to providing cash benefits, Disney agreed to make changes to its business practices to ensure compliance with federal antitrust laws. These changes will benefit consumers by ensuring they are not overcharged for live TV subscriptions.
The deadline for exclusion is Sept. 8, 2026. The deadline for objection is Dec. 1, 2026.
The final approval hearing for the Disney antitrust lawsuit settlement is scheduled for Jan. 14, 2027.
To receive a payment from the class action settlement, class members must submit a valid claim form by Sept. 8, 2026.
